Why should plastic bags be banned

                Plastic bags should be banned for a few reasons. First, plastic bags take a long time to biodegrade. They are made of a non-biodegradable substance (non-organic) which scientists believe, would take up to 1000 years to breakdown. In that time, plastic bags separate into smaller toxic particles that contaminate the soil and waterways. Even if we try to burn them, it will pollute the atmosphere.

            Second, plastic bags create litter . each year, an estimated 500 bilion to 1 trillion plastic bags are made worldwide. Making plastic bags can lead to exhaustion of oil, because to make plastic bags, we need a lot of oil, but we need to save oil.

            Third, plastic bags harm wildlife and marine life.  plastic bags are now in all places in our environment, and animals, on land and water, are getting choked, strangled and killed by them.  Even other sea critters like sea lions and dolphins have also been found with their stomachs filled with plastic bags!

            Since plastic bags are non-biogradable , dirty and harmful, they should not be used.
